omantic dining isn't always
about indulging in a four-
course feast complete with
candlelight, flowers and
Champagne. Sometimes it's
as simple as sharing sushi or pizza – or just a
decadent dessert.
is Valentine's Day – or any day – make
memories in your own special way. Here are
three local establishments for the win.
Nona Sushi Asia, Ramsey Commons
e words "intimate" and "urbane"
spring to mind upon entering Nona Sushi
Asia. Creamy leather banquettes meld with
dramatic sculptural art, chocolate-colored
walls, exposed black beams, towering lucky
bamboo and cascading beaded chandeliers.
It's a romantic vibe all the way.
Top, Nona co-owner Ruma Kurniawan
presents the restaurant's popular
fried rice served in a pineapple bowl.
Chicken, steak or shrimp may be added
to the rice. Katherine Lane and Kyle
Brisson experience romantic dining at
Nona Sushi Asia in Ramsey Commons
in North Fayetteville. A second Nona
location is on Morganton Road across
from Cross Creek Mall.
Left, a variety of specialties at Nona,
including sushi, spicy tuna kobachi,
fried rice in pineapple, and pho, the
traditional Vietnamese soup, with a
choice of bone-in beef rib or just the
tender meat. The lobster roll is breaded
and deep-fried and then presented
in a lobster shell and in rice rolls with
asparagus, cucumber, avocado, lobster
sauce and red tobiko. The crunch crab
tempura is a favorite from the sushi
menu.
