My hope is, at the conclusion of this event, I have black women I have never met contact me about future events. I've already begun planning the next. Q. What most excites you about "Four Women?" A. Knowing that these women have the freedom to be unapologetically black and do whatever feels natural for them during their performance. I am excited for people to see that black women are not monolithic. ey have range. Q. Why do you think this event is needed in our community? A. We all need gentle reminders that our neighbors exist and that their experiences are valid. Whether or not you understand those experiences, they are valid. Events like this can remind people to be kind, open-minded and enact those dormant empathetic skills. In today's climate, it is needed. In our city, and well beyond it. Q. How do you want the audience to feel when they leave? A. I want them to feel inquisitive! I want them to ask for information about the performers, the caterer, the photo booth owner and the photographer, because they are all black women. I want them to ask when the next event will be, because it will be Juneteenth. I want them to ask how they can help because sponsors and allies are always welcome.
