Indiana Beta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Purdue University P.O. Box 442100 Lawrence, KS 66044-2100 Address service requested Lion's Tale The saepurdue.com tinyurl.com/saepurduecampaign @saepurdue Doug Adams '59 entered Chapter Eternal on April 21, 2021. As an active member, Doug was best known for being the musically talented man of the chapter house; he often played the house piano late into the night. He and other members would gather to sing traditional ΣAE songs. Doug's positivity and enlightening presence will be sorely missed. Charles H. Alexander '64 entered Chapter Eternal on October 2, 2021. He enjoyed the simple things in life—oceans, mountains, photography, travel, singing, and, of course, his family. When he graduated from Purdue University, the United States was in the early days of the Vietnam War, so he enrolled in Navy Officer Candidate School where he would end up serving as an engineering officer, a diver, and an executive officer in Vietnam and South China. He and his wife, Linda Alice Hackney, created many memories together during their travels when Charles was posted in various locations, including Japan, Hawaii, and California. Charles was known for his adventurous spirit and limitless curiosity. He will be missed by many. Luke Abell • Fishers, Ind. Nick Adair • Cincinnati, Ohio Ben Anderson • Peachtree City, Ga. Chapter Eternal Membership improves the learning gains students make in the classroom, and members are more academically engaged than their peers. Members are more involved in campus activities than other students, and Greek organizations promote both personal development during and satisfaction in their college experience. Fraternities and sororities seek to enhance inclusivity, and our members actually report higher levels of interaction with people different from themselves compared to unaffiliated students. These benefits are even greater for first-year students as they join fraternities and sororities and find community and belonging. This leads to stronger retention and higher graduation rates among Greek students than their peers. As many college students experience stress, loneliness and depression, fraternities and sororities offer critical connection and a sense of community, and members report higher levels of positive mental health than their unaffiliated peers because of it. Recent research on fraternities and sororities demonstrates how positive the impact of the Greek experience—and the Sigma Alpha Epsilon experience—is for undergraduates today. Both inside and outside the classroom, we are providing tangible value at the most important time of growth in their lives. THE FRATERNITY EXPERIENCE IS MORE RELEVANT TO TODAY'S COLLEGE STUDENTS THAN EVER BEFORE Research Proves
