He's looking forward to bonding with his new brothers! In hoc, Winston Yu '20 winstonyzyu@gmail.com … but it's for a good cause! Our first Haunted House in two years was truly one of the spookiest experiences in Troy. Thanks to our brothers, pledges, Sweetheart Emily, Lavalier Abigail, and the ladies of Alpha Phi, we were able to put on an epic event that raised $300 for Huntsman Cancer Institute. Here's a rundown of some of the scariest moments. Guests enter the kitchen side door. The eye is drawn to a brother bound to the table, so they're utterly unprepared for the person who leaps out of the refrigerator with a roar. After that shock, they are guided to the conservatory, where a zombie farmer with a chainsaw and his two scarecrows await. With luck, they escape the angry agronomist—only to encounter a few zombies in the alumni room. The group flees to the second floor! The second story offers no refuge from the house of horrors. They chance upon a gibbering maniac dismembering his victim—who is still alive and struggling. The guests retreat to the Hall of Dead Pledges, where the pledges are banging on the walls and doors, issuing agonizing screams that echo throughout the house. The creepy doll on the third floor is unarguably the best attraction of the haunted house. Our unsuspecting victims line up against the wall in the dark. A light turns on, revealing a brother dressed as a creepy doll holding a toy doll. The lights flash on and off, and each time he is illuminated, the brother appears a bit closer to the guests. He ultimately runs toward them, screaming. It's the best scare of the night. The guides then direct the group downstairs toward the last attraction: the basement maze. The tour guides abandon our guests to navigate the maze alone—apart from the brothers hiding in the darkness to frighten them. Hundreds of people attended this timeless tradition. We raised $300 for Huntsman and reinforced our already strong relationship with our neighbors and community. It was so gratifying to be able to produce a high-quality event for the benefit of our school, community, and fraternity.
