December 15, 2021 www.DesertMessenger.com 9 The Salvation Army happenings WOOO, is it January yet??? We have been extremely busy with tons of donations, amazing shoppers, and awesome volunteers that are working soooo hard to process and keep up with everything. Not sure how Holly, our fantastic cashier is able to handle our customers so smoothly. We all appreciate your patience and kindness when shop- ping with us. There are times we must limit the number of shoppers in the store as we are asking for social distancing and we do require a face mask or shield. Our Christmas porch wonderland is elegantly decorated by our amaz- ing volunteer "Merry" Mary "Won- derland"! She has spent countless after store hours beautifully dis- playing our Christmas items and pricing them for you. We are load- ed with ornaments, tins, sweaters, lights- even bush lights, nativity sets, wrapping paper/ribbon, cards, garland, glassware, and lots of nice decorator pieces, and much more. Our Angel Tree kiddos will be ex- cited with the special gifts our com- munity has so generously provided them. So many of you have earned your Angel wings with your outpour- ing of love by shopping for our special Quartzsite children. THANK YOU! Our picture taking event with Mr. & Mrs. Santa will be De- cember 18th, 9:00 to 1:00. The TSA elves will have a large assort- ment of gifts, build a project kits, school supplies and toys for the children to choose. Again, this year it will be a Drive-In event with one family at a time with Quartzsite Po- lice Exploders Post 928 and QPD Offi cers, maybe some Quartzsite Fire Fighters too, helping to direct the fl ow of traffi c. Families will be asked to stay in their vehicle until it is your turn. Penny from Parents as Teachers® will have a fun activity for kids. Adults and children over 12 will be required to wear a face covering. We will make this a fun and safe event. We will be receiving toys from the Brotherhood Rogue Motorcycle Club Toy Drive for our Santa Event. If you would like to thank and greet the riders as they parade into our park- ing lot, we would love to have you. Group will arrive on Thursday, De- cember 16th come join us at 1:30 PM. Toy collection boxes are from many RV parks and businesses around Quartzsite. A heartfelt thanks to the riders for your support. When we are closed PLEASE DO NOT leave donations out front. Donations please when we are open- as the HUGE sign out front states. Call me if special ar- rangements need to be made. When we are closed, if there is something specifi c you need, we can do a curbside sale with exact cash payment or credit card. Please don't hesitant to call. If anyone would like to fl atten gro- cery bags for us, we would gladly ac- cept your offer. Great at home task. May the miracle of Christmas fi ll your heart with wonder and joy. Merry Christmas to all. Be Happy! Looking forward to seeing our Friends! Not a licensed contractor The Quartzsite Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism in coop- eration with the Town of Quartzsite held the Annual Christmas Light Parade on Saturday, December 4th, 2021. The street was packed with spectators mostly out in the fresh air again, as parade partici- pants displayed their Christmas spirit. This year was truly amazing as OHVs, non-profi ts, businesses, RV parks, churches, youth groups joined with their fl oats and lighted entries to the parade. The parade ended at the community center where cookies and hot cocoa were provided by Town of Quartzsite. The Chamber would like to thank the Town Hall Staff for all their hard work this year, the Quartzsite Ham Radio club for helping to di- rect traffi c, as well as the volunteers who decorated the Santa fl oat and helped with the line-up. The chamber would like to thank Brian and Mary Gokey for doing a wonderful job being Santa and Mrs. Claus this year! Also a big thank you to our judges this year, Devyn Rosner, Marina Morales, and Joe Lewellen. This year the Best Overall Traveling Trophy went to 7th Day Adventist for their beautifully decorated fl oat. The Chamber also wants to thank all the people who participated in the parade this year and made it such a great evening's fun for everyone. We hope you all had a great time and that it will inspire you to participate in the parade next year!!
