Quartzsite, AZ - The Annual Hi Jolly Daze Quartzsite, AZ - The Annual Hi Jolly Daze Parade is planned for Saturday, January Parade is planned for Saturday, January 8th, 2021. There will be Live Camels in this year's pa- rade! Line up is on E. Tyson St. near the Fire station starting at 10:30am. So get your party hats on and come out and enjoy the day! Gather your camels, fl oats, pets, bikes, dance & music groups, classic cars, off -road vehicles, bicycles, etc. and make this a great parade! This is a wonder- ful opportunity for businesses to show off too! And the entry is FREE! All groups, organizations, businesses, individuals, are encouraged to participate. Everyone is in- vited to honor our past and our future. Af- ter the parade, enjoy festivities, food, and award presentation at the Park with SKY- HAWK's music! At their regular meeting of Monday, December 20th, La Paz County Board of Supervisors will be addressing the pos- sibility of closing Quartzsite and Salome Justice Courts to consolidate all the justice courts into one court in Parker. The county currently has justice courts in Parker, Quartzsite and Salome. Courts hear mostly civil and misdemeanor cas- es. Justice courts also hear felony cases and decide if they should be bound over to the Superior Court. Durig their regular meeting in September, Board of Super- visor Duce Minor clearly stated they planned to hold Town Hall meetings in the areas that would be affected, but that has not occurred. In their regular meeting of November 15th, the board heard from concerned citizens and court employees. It appears the board will make their decision on Monday, December 20th at 10am. Gary Zakrajsek, Salome resident, said he would prefer to have Quartzsite remain open rather than Parker because it's the busiest of the courts. The Quartzsite court has a lot of truck traffi c due to citations issued on Interstate 10, and he wouldn't want all those trucks coming to Parker. In each county there are limited jurisdiction courts that are presided over by a Justice of the Peace, who is elected to a four year term. Judge's hear a variety of cases in their jurisdictions these include civil lawsuits where the amount in dispute is $9,999 or less, landlord and tenant contro- versies, small claims cases and the full range of civil and criminal traffi c offenses, including DUIs. Justices of the peace also resolve other types of misdemeanor allegations (i.e. shoplifting, writing bad checks, violating restraining
