Also please remember coyotes are wild animals... please don't feed the wildlife! RTRs return to Quartzsite BOOKS 690 E. Main - Quartzsite (one block east of Family Dollar) The RTR (Rubber Tramp Rendez- vous) & WRTR (Women's RTR) are back in Quartzsite! After a hiatus due to COVID-19 the RTR is hold- ing their week-long in-person event at Quartzsite Town Park. Highlight s include Classes & Lunch Time Dis- cussions, Bulletin Boards to post if you have "Something to Give," or "Something You Need", Free Pile to swap and donate good-condition items for nomads … or just social- ize, Bob's Van will be on display, a HOWA sweepstakes fundraiser. Folks are encouraged to attend to meet others who share a nomadic soul, newbies and seasoned. Classes include Solar, Cooking Gadgets, Phi- losophy of Nomadic Living, Vehicle & Tire Maintenance, Find medical/ psychological services on the road, Apps to Boondock & for Weather, Nomad Norms & Etiquette, etc. Quartzsite, Arizona, is one of the main fi lming locations for Academy Award best picture "Nomadland" and a real-life nomads' stomping ground. Bob Wells is one of sev- eral real-life nomads, recruited by the director famous for her utili- zation of nonactors. In the fi lm, Wells plays himself, a facilitator of the broader nomad community who, after surviving divorce and the death of his son, found solace (both fi nancial and emotional) in a life on the road. Seat- ing will be on the grassy outfi eld — bring your own chair or blanket for seating. Joe Young & Carol Young are at the heart and soul of the group, The Young Kidz. They have frequently toured as a duo in the mid-west and western states and have spent the last 5 winters playing in southern California and Arizona. Joe & Carol have collaborated on three albums of all their own music, which are available on iTunes, Amazon Music, and many other sources for digital download. They also have physical CDs for sale and signing at most shows. Joe Young draws from decades of experience, performing not only his own compositions, but also entertains as he brings a most extensive repertoire to the duo. It is an impressive collection that spans genres and generations. He is a singer songwriter from the mid-western U.S. Picky about his guitars, he enjoys playing Martin, Washburn and Yamaha acoustic, as well as Fender and Gibson electric guitars. Carol Young spent her early years playing piano and has always loved music and dance. She began playing the bass guitar in 2014 when she started performing along side Joe. She has become a lifetime member of the SBL Bass Academy, where she continues her studies and contribu- tion to the trade. Carol sings and harmonizes with Joe and enjoys play- ing her Fender Precision and Ibanez Fretless basses. Home is in Northwest Washington where they have a home in the woods and a boat that they spend much of their summer in the San Juan Is- lands. They've recently purchased a winter home in Quartzsite which is centrally located to the larger cities where they perform. They are looking forward to becoming a bigger part of the Quartzsite community. For the next three months Joe & Carol, "The Young Kidz" will be per- forming at the QIA (Quartzsite Improvement Association) on the third Tuesdays of the month. They will sing a wide variety of songs ranging from George Strait to the Beatles. Their fi rst show will be December 28th from 7 to 9 p.m. The entrance fee is $7.
