Brothers of Revolution #552 celebrated his birthday and his 70th year as a Master Mason with a banner on his front lawn, some cake and a lovingly delivered version of the Happy Birthday song. Before the pandemic hit, Brother Maness would attend every meal and meeting and was still proficient in the degrees. BROADWAY – Worshipful Brother Garland Eugene Smith, Past Master and Past Deputy District Grand Master, was presented his 50-year Certificate and pin at Friendship #763. Among attendees was Most Worshipful Past Grand Master Gene Jernigan, who presented WB Garland with his cer- tificate. Other masonic dignitaries included (from left), WB Jonathan S. Johnson, PM, DDGM; WB Dr. Hubert Warren, PM, PDDGM; Jernigan; Smith; WB Donald Collins, PM and WB Rudolf L. King, PM, DDGL (20). JEFFERSON – Past Master Jim Judson presents the 60- year Diamond Jubilee Award to Brother John W. Hodges III at his home in Jefferson in October. Brother Hodges was raised in Snow #363 in Boone on Oct.14,1961. He is a third-gener- ation Mason and currently is a member of Ashe #594 in West Jefferson. CHARLOTTE – Monroe #244 fired up the grills in October to pre- pare a thank-you breakfast for lo- cal first responders. Members of the Charlotte Chapter Order of DeMolay helped assemble and deliver 175 break- fast platters to various emergency ser- vice agencies around Union County. The DeMolay members had an oppor- tunity to meet and talk to law enforce- ment officers and other first respond- ers throughout the morning. ROXBORO – The brothers of Per- son #113 joined with Boy Scouts and family members in September to host a tasty and successful fish fry to raise funds for our Masonic charities.
