November/December 2021 The North Carolina Mason Page 11 NEWTON – After several years of hard work, Prometheus #775 received its charter in October from Grand Master R. David Wicker Jr. In attendance were almost 50 Masons: the officers and members of Prometheus, along with RW Jonathan Underwood, Grand Secretary, WB Mike Register, Senior Grand Steward, and WB Matthew Rob- bins. Also in attendance were MW Doug Caudle and MW D. Mack Sigmon, Past Grand Masters. PGM Sigmon granted Prometheus Lodge its original dispensa- tion in 2019. Prometheus, a traditional observance Lodge, is located in New- ton, where it shares a building with Catawba #248. This new lodge is the fourth traditional observance lodge in North Carolina and enjoys membership from multiple districts. The focus for Prometheus Lodge is to share Masonic Philosophy, Masonic Education, and developing fraternal bonds. BOONE – Snow #363 raised three new brothers to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason outdoors in September at Camp Gray Rock in Foscoe. Camp Gray Rock is an encampment owned by the Order of the Eastern Star surrounded by trees and nature. The departure from standard ritual practices and, in keeping with the simplicity of the venue, rustic furnishings, gav- els, and staffs were provided by the brothers of Cranberry #598, Elk Park. The Lodge could be tiled on the third degree due to the isolated nature of the stage and seating area. Brothers from lodges in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania were in attendance. Brothers Kevin Cruz and Nathan Lukas were raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason. Brother Paul Lucas represented Grand Master Hiram Abiff. Brother Lucas was then raised by his father, Charles Lucas of Snyder #756, Snyder, Pa. The new brothers are, from left, Kevin Cruz, Paul Lucas, and Nathan Lukas. COOKVILLE – Cookville #502 presented Brother Douglas Metz his 50- Year Veterans Award in October. On hand, from left, are: Brother Dick Gardner, Brother Alan Lutz, Brother Douglas Metz, WB Frederick H. Cloninger and WB Dan Beal. DURHAM – Bill Cole from Durham #352, right, receives his 60-year Diamond Jubilee Certificate from Worshipful Master Tom Forqurean.
