Staff Report C elebrating its 48th year in the community, The Venice Symphony is the only professional orchestra in South Sarasota County. After postponing its 2020-21 season, music director Troy Quinn and The Venice Symphony are back at the state-of-the-art Venice Performing Arts Center on the Venice High School campus, with every concert and guest artist originally planned for 2020-21. The Symphony will also present its third annual Patriotic Pops Concert on May 28, 2022, at CoolToday Park, the spring training home of the World Series champion Atlanta Braves. "This season our programs feature an array of music, ranging from some of my favorite masterworks such as Brahms 4th Symphony and Stravinsky's The Firebird Suite, to modern day music from La La Land and The Greatest Showman, Quinn said. "You will also hear music from opera, Broadway and more, all in its original, authentic form." Guest artists scheduled this season include piper Eric Rigler, who will reprise his performance on "My Heart Will Go On" from the film Titanic, Thomas Hooten, principal trumpet with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and superstar violinist Fabiola Kim. Several programs will feature video and film clips to enhance the concert experience. Season sponsors are Gulf Coast Community Foundation and Sarasota County Tourist Development Tax revenue. Before each concert, Quinn, musicians and guest artists take the stage for an insider's look at that weekend's program at free pre-concert talks sponsored by Fourthought Private Wealth.
