Nov. 1 OUR HEROES Join the Venice Concert Band as it returns to the stage with a concert that will honor not only our military veterans, but also the many local heroes who served on the front lines of necessary services during the recent pandemic. Venice concert Band Back on the VPAC stage Staff Report V enice Concert Band Director Bob Miller has selected titles and themes for the upcoming concert season as well as the music the band will play at each performance. Miller is looking forward to returning to the podium and the band is eager to be back on the stage. They're all excited about once again presenting music for the community's listening enjoyment. Feb. 21 BACH TO BROADWAY The Venice Concert Band will be opening with a Bach prelude and fugue, then on to Mozart with a surprising twist, and ending with Beethoven for classical music lovers. Then the concert will move to the stage with a tribute to Broadway along with music from My Fair Lady and The Lion King. March 21 TWELVE LITTLE NOTES Bach, Rock, Mozart, Beatles, Irish Rhapsodies, Broadway melodies – our world has been enriched with the sounds of so many musical compositions. Every song, opera, symphony, ballet, march or musical is based on 12 little notes. Let's see what those 12 little notes can do. April 25 SPRING BOUQUET With the breath of springtime in the air, this performance will bring the current concert season to a beautiful conclusion. With music from The Mission, Aladdin, and the composer Marvin Hamlish, you will leave this program with a refreshed spirit. The season tickets are sold out. However, $14 tickets for the individual performances will be available for purchase online at VeniceConcertBand.com two weeks before each performance and $14 (cash only) tickets are available at the door on concert dates. All concerts will begin at 7 p.m. at the Venice Performing Arts Center at Venice High School, 1 Indian Ave., in Venice. Dec. 6 HOLIDAY JOY Christmas. Hanukkah. Both holidays are celebrated as the Venice Concert Band performs many of the traditional sounds of the season. You will also be treated to a few selections with happy and surprising twists. Jan. 24 – SEE THE USA Just as you might expect from the title, this program explores a great variety of music from all over our beautiful country.
