Beta Phi Crier beta phi Chapter of Delta Tau Delta the ohio state university n FALL 2021 S chool is back in session, activity at the Shelter is in high gear, and football is in the air. We are pleased to welcome back 63 fine undergraduates, now living in the Shelter this fall semester. Although still somewhat restricted compared to pre-COVID-19, I hear that everyone is enjoying their time at 67 E. 15th. For those of you who haven't been back to the Shelter in a while, one would be amazed at how the surrounding landscape has certainly evolved. Thanks to multiple construction projects, the intersection of 15th and High has truly become the "Gateway to Campus" again, as it should be. Delta Tau Delta has never been more blessed to exist in its current location. The undergraduates welcome you to visit while you are in the area. Although the pandemic has proven to be an operational and financial challenge, Beta Phi has weathered the storm and stands to return to normalcy very soon, with only minor impairments. As always, we owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to everyone who has contributed their time and efforts as members of the House Association as well as the leaders of the undergraduate chapter. It is with mixed emotion that I inform you that I am stepping down as president of the Association after having served in the role for six years. I cannot be happier to introduce to you my successor, Kyle Huff '07, who has served admirably as our treasurer for the past 10 years. Kyle is a natural born leader and an integral part of the "refounding fathers" of our charter; we are extremely gratified to have him step into the role as House Association president for Beta Phi. I can assure you that we will remain a strong entity for years to come under Kyle's guidance. Kyle and his wife, Amanda, have two beautiful daughters, Hannah (6) and Samantha (3), and reside nearby in the Plain City area. Please allow me at this time to acknowledge the leadership of our National Fraternity, the officers of the undergraduate chapter, and the many fine gentlemen who have served with me on our House Association over the past six years. Without these men and their ability to serve, my tenure would not have been successful. May I simply say thank you, and I love all of you. Fraternally, Paul M. Falkenbach '80 President, Beta Phi House Association of Delta Tau Delta Beta Phi Remains Strong Thank You to Everyone for Their Efforts A s we return to a more normal world, the chapter has picked up right where it left off when we were sent home in the spring of 2020. The transition from a predominately virtual world to more face-to-face interactions has been tremendous for the chapter culture. Delt is proud of the Beta Pi class for its efforts this past spring—and the impacts are noticeable. Members have stepped up to fill roles that most their age would not consider participating in. Although holding a virtual recruitment last year presented new challenges, our recruitment chairmen, Carl Conley '23 and Hudson Davis '23, excelled in preparing for the task and brought a great group of men to the chapter. The challenge of online member development was handled excellently by our guide, Ben Nagy '23, who took the lead. As we returned to a more normal recruitment and education process this fall, there was plenty of engagement from brothers.
