Mary Catherine Dulaney '20 competed in the Miss University of Alabama preliminary pageant in September; Mary Catherine was named first runner-up, and Madison was named third runner-up. This football season, Alpha Gamma Delta was awarded premier seats in the student section, front and center behind the goal post in the endzone. The selection and application processes are based on our chapter's academics and campus involvement. PHILANTHROPIC EFFORTS As we returned for the fall semester, we were excited for new opportunities for our members to serve the community. We had percentage days at the Pants Store, Blenz Bowls, and Park Boutique. Proceeds were donated to the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. In honor of Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, Psi Chapter hosted a fundraising event at Heat Pizza. Led by Hannah Adams '21, Lily Creel '21, Bentlee Burchell '20, pediatric cancer survivors, and friend- advocate Emily Roach '19, the event raised nearly $1,000 in proceeds to donate directly to research and awareness efforts. In addition, the three members organized a letter-writing drive for the chapter to write notes to cancer patients to be delivered during the Thanksgiving holiday. September was Hunger Action Month, and we packed bags of food and held a canned food drive to fight local food insecurity. Psi Chapter members are continuing to make a difference in organizations such as Best Buddies, B+, FALL 2021 The Squirrel's Nest P S I C H A P T E R O F A L P H A G A M M A D E L T A A T T H E U N I V E R S I T Y O F A L A B A M A groups with an appointed leader of each group to serve as that major's point of contact within Alpha Gam. She, in conjunction with our Vice Presidents of New Member Experience, Reina Parker '19 and Julia Stewart '19, held a resume and mock interview workshop for First Year Council and Freshman Forum interviews. Sixteen members of our 2021 pledge class were selected to serve on our Student Government Association's First Year Council: Ashton Haygood, Audrey Kilgore, Brantley Denny, Caroline Long, Hallie Bender, Josie Gibson, Madison Hasnani, Reagan Huguley, Morgan Toone, Savannah Ichikawa, Sneha Subranami, Zoe Ladner, Meg O'Donovan, Olivia Beard, Gemma Hodgkiss, and Hannah Vandiver. RECRUITMENT SUCCESS Following primary fall recruitment, Alpha Gamma Delta welcomed 132 new members, who were initiated in September. Their new member period, led by our two New Member Educators, Reina Parker '19 and Julia Stewart '19, has been full of personal growth, leadership, member development programming, and an array of sisterhood events to cultivate lasting friendships. ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE In August, we celebrated winning the top GPA from the spring 2021 semester, with a chapter average of 3.80. This GPA ranks Alpha Gam as the top Panhellenic chapter and Greek chapter, as well as above the all-women's and all-undergraduate averages. Our members are proud to remain in this top spot for the last six semesters in a row. Our pledge class of 2021 entered UA with a whopping 4.14 GPA! In the spring, we had 155 members on the President's List and 148 on the Dean's List.
