ongratulations to Beta-Chi for winning the Founder's
Award for Chapter Excellence for the second year in
a row. This is the highest honor given by the Kappa Sigma
Fraternity.
The pandemic has created challenges for the Fraternity and
its undergraduate members. One of those challenges is the
increase in students with financial needs. This semester,
the Beta-Chi Educational Foundation is delivering 13
financial aid scholarships, totaling $22,500, to both actives
and pledges. I want to thank our generous alumni for their
support of these scholarships. Some of the funds came
from Missouri S&T matching funds. If you want to help a
Brother in need, please donate to the Beta-Chi Educational
Foundation at http://beta-chi.com/giving-back/donate-now.
This year, Missouri S&T stopped providing internet
services, so we acquired and installed new equipment and
hired a local provider. We also hard-wired the entire house.
Thanks again to the Beta-Chi Educational Foundation for
funding this effort.
The university recently built several new dorms but did not
hit its enrollment goals. As a result, they had empty dorm
rooms. MS&T then imposed dorm cancellation fees on
Greeks, imposed new Greek fees, and stopped providing
critical recruiting data. These changes have hurt our ability
to recruit. We are working with the university and other
Greek organizations to improve our ability to recruit.
Please let us know of any students heading to MS&T.
We're looking forward to a great year at the Beta-Chi
Chapter of Kappa Sigma! Please let us know if you need
help organizing a class reunion. I hope you and your
family stay healthy and safe.
Fraternally,
