Our programs include mental health counseling, career development, resource advising, educational scholarships, social and career networking, financial empowerment through education, wellness and more. The primary goal of the programs at WRC is for our clients to be financially self- sufficient and resilient with strong emotional health. Approximately 25% of our clients reach out to us for help in finding employment. We have a full complement of programs to support these clients, including career coaching, computer technology and training, a career closet for clothing and more. An important component of our career programs is Career Connections. The goal of this program is to connect women to job openings and funded educational opportunities in the community. Participants can discover fields of interest they may have never considered. Local employers, post-secondary educational institutions and nonprofits are partnering with WRC to recruit for their open positions/trainings and give participants the chance to learn about career paths available within their organizations and industries. In addition, participants learn about funded training courses and educational scholarships that are available to them. We are especially interested in highlighting opportunities with career pathways and wages that support families. As an example, we partnered with PGT Innovations, a national window-maker headquartered in Venice, and ASO, a first aid product specialist focused on opportunities in the field of manufacturing. Entry- level jobs start at $15 +/hour. The next one-hour Career Connections is on Thursday, Sept. 29th. To register for this free webinar, go online to mywrc.org/ careerconnections/. All the Career Connections are done remotely and recorded. The recordings are available on our YouTube Channel which you can find by going to YouTube and searching for The Women's Resource Center Channel. In addition to remote services, the Women's Resource Center has three locations, in Bradenton, Sarasota and Venice. The Venice location is in the Brickyard Plaza on US 41 Bypass S. Natalie Krstec is the Venice site manager and can be reached at 941-485-9724. If you are interested in learning more about the Women's Resource Center, please visit us online at mywrc.org or call us at 941-256-9721. Ashley Brown is president and CEO of Women's Resource Center.
