3 SIGMA CHI Theta Brothers Come Together A Strong Brotherhood H ello, brothers. I am proud to say that the state of the eta Chapter at Gettysburg College remains strong. Our undergraduate brotherhood is pleased to announce that we have fully returned to residential life at Gettysburg College aer a tumultuous year separated by computer screens and hundreds of miles. During a semi-residential semester this past spring, our chapter found ways to meaningfully connect as a brotherhood and with the campus community. Our crowning achievement of the last year was our Derby Days campaign, where we raised money for the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Philanthropy Chairman David Wiener '22 said this about our efforts: "I first and foremost would like to sincerely thank everyone for their help and dedication during this past year's Derby Days. We ended with a grand total of $52,213, and we would not have reached that number without the time and energy from everyone involved. We have shown again that eta Chapter can do truly incredible things when we come together and that we belong among the top chapters in this country." Although we were not allowed to take on a spring pledge class last year, our brotherhood dedicated itself throughout two long recruitment weeks in September to bring in a class of incredible pledges. Magister Will Hopkins '22 reports, "e fall 2021 pledge class consists of 16 eager young men who are very excited to join our organization composed of different talents, temperaments, and convictions. As their magister, it has been my privilege to spend time educating them and watching them grow in confidence through our new member education program." We cannot wait to welcome them into our brotherhood aer they complete their pledge process! For the first time in two years, our undergraduate brothers welcomed alumni brothers back to the chapter house in late September for a get-together and plaque unveiling ceremony. It was so rewarding to reconnect with alumni brothers—both recent and from years past. eta Chapter looks forward to more events as campus life returns to its new normal. Speaking on behalf of the entire brotherhood, we could not be more excited to continue making positive change in our community through our philanthropic efforts and build a thriving chapter through the impact of our brothers.
