WWW.UPANDCOMINGWEEKLY.COM JULY 7-13, 2021 UCW 19 WEEKLY HOROSCOPE NEWS OF THE WEIRD by the Editors at Andrews McMeel Syndication Precocious Two West Jordan, Utah, sisters, 9 and 4 years old, set out before dawn on June 2 with California beaches in their sights, Fox News reported. Unfortunately, the 9-year-old was driving, and things didn't go as planned. Just several miles away from home, the little driver veered into oncoming traffic, slamming into a semi-truck. Both girls were wearing seatbelts, and no one was hurt. Their parents were unaware of the joyride until police called them after the accident. "I guess they were intending to start their summer vacation a little early," remarked West Valley police spokesperson Roxeanne Vainuku. Lt. Sean McCarthy added, "I don't know that we'll tell them they were going the wrong way" to reach California. Police Report Two teenagers on their way home from a graduation party in the early hours of May 23 made the night even more memorable when their car crashed into the roof of a home in Eureka, Missouri, outside St. Louis. Authorities told KSDK-TV that the driver lost control, rolled down an embankment, flipped over a fence and crashed front-end first into the master bathroom of the home. Startlingly, there were no injuries from the crash; the two teens escaped through the master bedroom, and two occupants of the home, who were sleeping at the time, were unharmed. Bright Ideas Adele Belizaire, 54, was held in the Pinellas County, Florida, jail after a stunt she pulled to "blow off steam," The Smoking Gun re- ported. Belizaire, frustrated with her loss of nearly $400 playing slot machines at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa, called the casino on her cellphone that evening from her hotel in Clearwater Beach and said, "I left a bomb in your casino." What she failed to re- member was that as a member of the casino's Player's Club, her phone number was on file. In her confession, she admitted that she has "anger issues." Question: I loved all three seasons of "e Kominsky Method" on Netflix. But who played Paul Reiser's mom in Season 3? — Mary Ann Matt Roush: I love this question, because I did a double-take as well while watching the episodes that in- troduced this battle-ax character. It was the brittle voice that convinced me I was watching the otherwise unrecognizable Christine Ebersole, Tony-winning Broadway and caba- ret star who appears as Bob's mom Dottie in "Bob Hearts Abishola." Kudos to Chuck Lorre for his loyalty to his stable of character actors. Not only did he insert this wonderful actress into his most personal show, but in the series finale of "Mom," he introduced a dysfunctional mother- daughter duo played by veterans from two of his past hits: Melanie Lynskey (from "Two and a Half Men") and Rondi Reed (from "Mike & Molly"). While late- night host James Corden's interview portions lacked "unagi," the highly anticipated COVID-delayed get-to- gether on HBO Max delivered more than enough emotional perks when the cast of NBC's iconic comedy was allowed to simply hang out on their old set and swap stories. We'll always be there for that. Cheers to "e Handmaid's Tale" for handing its leading ladies Em- my-worthy material. It's a marvel to see Elisabeth Moss and Alexis Bledel unveil new layers to June and Emily, now safely in Canada, as each faces the traumas that led to their escape from the Hulu drama's violent patriarchy. Jeers to Reality Show Participants who need a reality check.
