WWW.UPANDCOMINGWEEKLY.COM JUNE 23-29, 2021 UCW 19 WEEKLY HOROSCOPE NEWS OF THE WEIRD by the Editors at Andrews McMeel Syndication Lost and Found Parker Hanson, a pitcher at Augustana College in Illinois, was born without a left hand, but he adapted over the years so that he could still play his favorite game. On May 3, Hanson realized that the backpack he had left in his car, which contained his prosthetic arm and some of its attachments, had been stolen. Hanson told the Argus Leader that he had lost hope of finding the expensive prosthetic and had started to focus on fundraising for a new one when he received a text on May 11. Nate Riddle and Tim Kachel, who work at Millennium Recycling Inc. in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, found the arm as they sorted recycling materials. While Hanson is happy to have it back, he said the arm is "pretty banged up" and unusable. Shriners Children's Twin Cities stepped up to provide Hanson with a new, free arm and his fundraising money will be donated to help other amputees get their own prosthetics. Least Competent Criminal When Keith Adams, 37, was arrested during a traffic stop in Largo, Florida, he was found to be sitting on a "glass pipe which contained a thick white residue which field tested positive for cocaine," The Smoking Gun reported. Adams, who wears a prosthetic leg, was asked during his arrest if he had anything concealed in his leg. Adams denied that there was anything in his leg, but when he was searched at the Pinellas County jail, officers found a gram of fentanyl and some Xanax pills. Adams was detained on three felony charges and one misdemeanor. Canine Chronicles The Edmonton Fire Rescue Service in Alberta, Canada, was called out on reports of a dog driving a car down Guardian Road, United Press International reported. Firefighters deter- mined the dog had been left alone in the car and accidentally shifted it into neutral, allowing it to roll along the road. They were able to stop the car and rescue the dog without incident. Question: I loved the second season of "Pennyworth" on EPIX. Will there be a third ? — DW Matt Roush: No word yet. But this doesn't seem the sort of show that typically ends without warning, so stay hopeful. Question: Do you think "American Housewife" has any hope of being renewed? — Mark Matt Roush: Most observers see this sitcom as being "on the bubble," so it could go either way — which means there's hope. If the network doesn't renew it, the blame goes to the producers for leaving storylines dangling. If they think that's going to force the network's hand, they're often sadly mistaken. With its unlikely setting of South- eastern Pennsylvania, the surpris- ingly murky ethics of Kate Winslet's small-town cop and the fact that Mare isn't based on a book or any- thing else we could be spoiled by, HBO's limited series is proof that an original story can be just as engross- ing and entertaining as a splashy adaptation. Jeers to "e Voice" for overpower- ing its contestants. Season 20's big finish on NBC was a showcase for celebrity guests, ranging from some- time-coaches Gwen Stefani and Adam Levine to Justin Bieber and Kelsea Ballerini. e actual hopefuls vying for the grand prize felt more like backup singers than potential breakout stars. Jeers to CBS for the bait and switch. With "SEAL Team" and "Evil" mov- ing to the network's Paramount+ streaming service, folks will now have to pay to keep up with these two beloved shows. Maybe Season 2 of "Evil" should explore the de- monic force that made CBS think this was OK. ARIES - March 21/April 20 A setback of some kind may occur this week, Aries.
