W hile the past year in its entirety has been difficult on all brothers, Oklahoma Alpha's success through difficult times has been, and continues to be, astounding. In the fall of 2020, our brothers achieved success throughout the pandemic, highlighted by the highest cumulative GPA in chapter history with a 3.52. The spring 2021 semester was successful as well. We welcomed six new brothers into the chapter and have put great emphasis on expanding and growing our membership development experience to encourage growth in leadership and professional development, leading to life after college. We finished 4th in grades with a 3.47 GPA. BROTHERHOOD THROUGH THE PANDEMIC The first and foremost priority of Oklahoma Alpha through the pandemic was the safety of our members. In conjunction with the AVC, the chapter created an OK Alpha COVID-19 Action Plan that is followed to this day. The next priority of the chapter was keeping the brotherhood aspect of fraternity life alive and well. During the fall of 2020, brothers attended socially distanced brotherhood events, such as TopGolf Gameday events and paintball tournaments, and conducted leadership development events, such as in-house resume workshops, interview preparation workshops, and morning Bible studies. The chapter believes that a fraternity is nothing without a strong sense of brotherhood and continues to develop and host events that promote a sense of community for all members. OKLAHOMA ALPHA REMAINS A PHILANTHROPIC LEADER The brothers of our chapter remain steadfast in the desire to be the most philanthropic house on campus. Last fall, we hosted a canned food drive for Neighborhood Ministries in Perkins, helping elderly individuals battling the pandemic. Additionally, in keeping with the spirit of philanthropy, we became the first chapter at Oklahoma State to begin hosting safe, in-person philanthropies at our chapter house. In February, brothers began the first of monthly philanthropies called Sigma Phi Burger Fry in which burgers, fries, and drinks are sold in the chapter facility parking lot. All proceeds of this philanthropy are donated to Mental Health of America, as brothers are passionate about mental health awareness in today's world. The chapter looks forward to the continuation of being the philanthropic leader not only on campus but in the community as well. OKLAHOMA ALPHA CONSISTS OF CAMPUS LEADERS The great thing about being an Oklahoma Alpha SigEp is that you are always pushed to be better. The chapter leadership believes in immersing yourself in as many developmental opportunities as you can while in college and encourages all members to do the same. We are proud to have involvement in more than 100 clubs and organizations at Oklahoma State, with five brothers serving on executive boards. In addition to this, OK Alpha has had a new member selected as Oklahoma State Top Ten Freshman not one, but two years in a row, as well as two members serving IFC as president and director of recruitment. We are extremely proud of continuing the reputation of being THE leader on campus and in the community, passed down to us by so many great generations of brothers. THANK YOU, PARENTS AND ALUMNI Oklahoma Alpha has been performing at its highest potential, even through all the recent challenges. The men of our chapter are extremely resilient and see adversity only as an opportunity to grow. Likewise, we are striving to keep all of this positive momentum moving, as life is slowly becoming more normal. Everything the chapter has accomplished would be impossible without the strong support system by all parents and alumni. We sincerely thank you for your involvement!
