T his past winter the AVC made a push to formally introduce a mentorship program pairing our undergraduate executive board members with an individual alumnus. The program is appropriately coined OK Alpha Executive Mentorship Program, and its goal is to offer the undergraduate executive members a high-quality and experienced mentor as a resource that is specific to their own position. The resource of a mentor for these executive members, when fully utilized, can help bolster our executive board and, in turn, OK Alpha. As SigEps we have all benefitted from mentors not only during our undergraduate years, but also throughout our personal and professional lives. We know how important mentorship is and how vital it is to pay it forward by mentoring others. This program is not the end-all and be-all of support for these young men but rather one of the many ways alumni can give back to the chapter that we love. I wasn't sure how receptive our potential mentors would be when I first brought the idea to them, but let me say how blown away I was at their willingness and excitement to this program. The following mentors have committed and were paired with an undergraduate brother during the entirety of their executive board term: Blake Giles '19 (mentor to the president) Brooks Robinson '19 (mentor to the VP of programming) Aaron Cromer '16 (mentor to the VP of finance) Levi Close '17 (mentor to the VP of membership development) Cardin Hart '19 (mentor to the VP of recruitment) Grant Bennett '15 (mentor to the VP of communication) Erik Williams '20 (mentor to the chaplain) These men will be proactively checking in with their mentee and be on call for any guidance or support their mentee might ask of them. I would like to personally thank these men for devoting their time to our executive board members. Their devotion to OK Alpha is inspiring and will help ensure the future success of OK Alpha. If you are interested in becoming a mentor for next year's executive board, please reach out to me. We are always looking to add to our list of candidates.
