W hile there was an abundance of uncertainty leading up to the 2020-21 academic year, we couldn't be prouder of how Xi Chapter's collegians have lived with heart to overcome every challenge they've encountered. Our active members have excelled under extremely difficult circumstances, and a big reason for their success is because of all of you, our loyal alumnae. This past year, so many of you have truly shown us what it means to be bound by a promise to model service and leadership in your communities, especially within Sigma Kappa. We're so thankful for the 83 generous sisters who collectively contributed $18,760 to the Supporting Our Sisters campaign, which was pivotal in relieving the financial burden that COVID-19 brought upon our sisterhood. Those funds will defray housing costs for the chapter women next year as well. While the campaign has concluded, sisters are still more than welcome to support this crucial cause by writing a check to the Xi Corporation. Due to the financial shortfall, the Xi Corporation didn't make any repairs to the chapter house last summer. There are now additional repairs that need to be made following a frigid winter in Lawrence. Unfortunately, there was a pipe that broke during an extremely cold period that caused extensive damage to the ceiling in three areas of the house. We have been working to repair those areas and get our beloved home back in tip-top shape as quickly as we can. Throughout all the ups and downs of this unorthodox school year, the dedicated sisters who have joined us on the Xi Corporation Board and Advisory Board have also been bound by a promise to Sigma Kappa. Whether it's volunteering your time by joining the Advisory Board or making a contribution to the Xi Corporation to alleviate the mounting financial burdens we've faced in months, Xi Chapter can sure use your help as we strive to secure Sigma Kappa's prominent place among KU's top sororities. We sincerely appreciate our alumnae support and are thankful for any funds you can contribute to this effort. While COVID-19 has created several challenges for Xi Chapter, we're thrilled that there has been some semblance of normalcy this spring. We have started welcoming live-out members to the chapter house for lunch. Other safely held events included a drive-thru SigmaKappatizers philanthropy event, family weekend in Lawrence, and in person date parties. These have made our semester feel a bit more normal. There's no doubt that the promise we are bound to includes keeping our sisters safe. We feel that we can safely manage this change and are extremely excited to share plans about upcoming events where alumnae and collegians alike can once again share their love for Sigma Kappa together in person.
