The gun was unloaded, and police said another hunter saw the stag more than a half-mile away with the rifle still hanging from its antlers. Bright Ideas A Washington State Patrol of- ficer pulled over a motorist on I-90 near North Bend on Nov. 30 after noticing the vehicle's "super dim" headlights, patrol spokesman Rick Johnson told CNN. Closer inspec- tion revealed the driver had duct- taped flashlights to the front of his vehicle to replace the headlights, which had been damaged in a crash. Flashlights-as-headlights are illegal in Washington because they don't provide enough brightness, Johnson said, adding that the driver also had a suspended license. Awesome! The British Museum on Dec. 9 announced that among the histori- cal finds it has registered this year was a cache of 63 gold coins dat- ing from the reign of Henry VIII, dug up by a family weeding their garden in New Forest. The coins, totaling 24 pounds and equivalent to more than $18,000 in today's dol- lars, were probably buried around 1540, The Guardian reported. The museum has experienced an in- crease in garden finds this year, as Treasure Registrar Ian Richardson said people are spending more time in their gardens, "resulting in com- pletely unexpected archaeological discoveries." Names in the News A newly elected local councilman in Ompundja, Namibia, is assuring constituents that he has no plans for world domination, despite his unfortunate name: Uunona Adolf Hitler. The 54-year-old, who prefers to be called Mr. Uunona, told a Ger- man news website that his father named him without an understand- ing of the Nazi leader, Sky News reported. Namibia is a former Ger- man colony, so many streets, places and people have German names. "It was a perfectly normal name for me when I was a kid," Uunona said. Question: I've never heard of the quiz show "e Chase," which is being remade with former Jeopar- dy! champions Ken Jennings, James Holzhauer and Brad Rutter. I get why ABC would want to be in busi- ness with these three based on the success they had with the "Greatest of All Time" tournament. Although it was exciting to watch them go against each other because they play the game at such a high level, I think the fact that it was "Jeop- ardy!" was a bigger deal than their personalities. Your thoughts? — Jake Matt Roush: I don't imagine ABC is expecting ratings approach- ing the GOAT tournament. But I can't blame the network, or these players, for trying to milk another proverbial 15 minutes of game- show infamy while they can. As most game-show fans no doubt know, before his staggeringly suc- cessful run on "Jeopardy!," Hol- zhauer appeared as a contestant on "e Chase" during its Game Show Network run in 2014. In the new version, the three "Jeopardy!" champs will take turns in the role of "the Chaser," as the fearsome trivia expert who will try to block new players as they try to wrack up money by answering a flurry of questions (estimated at up to 166 per episode).
