e Washington Alpha Delt 5 O n behalf of the Undergraduate Executive Council, I would like to thank our members, parents, and Alumni for their patience and commitment during what has certainly been a challenging year for our community. Though the pandemic took many of the events we look forward to each year from us, I can assure you that our bond as a Chapter remains as strong as ever. To all the generous Alumni who have made donations to the capital campaign, we can't thank you enough for your contribution. The support you have shown us during this time of need reaffirms the fact that this brotherhood is truly a lifelong commitment. While the past year was undoubtedly a challenging one, it certainly had its share of highlights. We welcomed a fantastic group of new brothers into our Chapter. Many of our pledges have since taken up positions in preparation to be on the Executive Council or recruitment team in the future. We've doubled down on our commitment to academic success by implementing a scholarship chairman position. Michael Kowalchuk '22 has stepped into this role by overseeing and assisting members with their schoolwork and career searching. As proud Alpha Delts, we understand the impact we can make in our community by advocating for much-needed systemic change surrounding racial inequality. Several brothers have embarked on this effort individually on campus and/or their hometown, but please know that we are also taking steps as an entire Chapter to support positive change. We have created the position of diversity chairman and are hosting quarterly programming sessions on racial inequality. Please see the statement on our @alphadelts_washington Instagram account for more details. The safety of our brothers is always our primary concern. Given the current circumstances of the pandemic, we know that it's critical to follow all the guidelines to keep our brothers and ourselves healthy. During the summer, we were fortunate to work alongside officials from UW and King County Public Health to develop a comprehensive plan to combat the spread of COVID-19 within the Chapter House. Thanks in large part to this plan, we curbed a potential outbreak within the Chapter House last summer and improved our safety practices for the fall. While nothing is certain, I can assure you that we will do all we can to keep our members safe throughout the year. That's what brothers do. Though we are still navigating through uncertainty, I am confident in the ability of our Chapter to uphold its long-standing reputation of excellence thanks to the quality of its membership. I believe that being a part of a strong, healthy community is more important now than ever and am humbled to play a small role in the fraternal experience of so many outstanding young men. Despite these difficult circumstances, I know that our collective effort today will leave a positive, lasting impact on Washington Chapter for years to come.
