Fall 2020 A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE - The Campaign for Indiana Beta W hen we look back on our undergraduate years at ΣAE, it's the time we spent with our brothers at the chapter house that mean the most. Our brothers shaped us into the men we are today, influenced us in ways we may not have realized at the time, and held us accountable when it came to achieving our goals and representing our brotherhood on campus and within the West Lafayette community. Together, we became the best version of ourselves while at Indiana Beta. We are grateful for the 211 brothers who have shown their appreciation for their Sigma Alpha Epsilon experience by supporting A Tradition of Excellence: The Campaign for Indiana Beta. With their steadfast support, we've raised $2,757,137 toward our campaign goal; however, we still need to raise a total of $3 million to ensure a solid foundation for Indiana Beta's future. Project Update We swapped the house we owned at 424 Littleton for land on two adjacent lots in order to provide approximately 2/3 of an acre to construct additional off-street parking. We're delaying the start of construction for this parking until we have a clearer view of our financials as we deal with COVID-19. Eventually this additional parking will allow all members to park on ΣAE property and not on city streets, which are becoming more and more off limits. For those who may be concerned that swapping the house for land was a bad deal… that house redefined "dump." All that kept the house standing was that the termites were holding hands. Writing the Next Chapter of Indiana Beta Together The campaign will end on December 31, 2020; don't miss this opportunity to leave your mark. With a gift of $5,000 or more, donors' names will be prominently displayed in the renovated chapter house. There are many payment plan options to make a donation that fits any budget. Gifts of all sizes are needed and appreciated—every donation counts toward building a brighter future for ΣAE at Purdue. TOGETHER, WE RISE ABOVE • Indiana Beta Still Needs Alumni Support as Campaign Wraps Up • Secure Your Place as a Donor by December 31 (Continued on page 5) I n a semester without social activities, intramurals, group meals, and many virtual classes, there have certainly been a lot of changes for Indiana Beta and the entire Greek community at Purdue. Due to COVID- 19, many of those changes are out of our control, but I'm proud of how ΣAE has maintained a sense of brotherhood. VIRTUAL RECRUITMENT Despite these turbulent times, we've been more committed than ever to being True Gentlemen at Indiana Beta. While we wish we could have shown what our brotherhood is all about with an in-person recruitment, we had to switch to a virtual recruitment. Sadly, there was no resemblance to recruitment as we usually know it. No hundreds of Undergraduate Brothers Committed to Improving Chapter and Each Other Despite Challenging Year (Continued on page 4)
