WELCOME, NEW ASSOCIATES! D espite the uncertainties that have plagued the world since March, Mississippi State University's Alpha Chi Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau has never been stronger. Several chapters on our campus saw adversity, but America's Fraternity has used the isolation and quarantining rules to focus on the most essential and vital part of Phi Tau: brotherhood. One week before our formal recruitment commenced, we had nine standout early bids. We ended formal recruitment with 25 new associates. We are excited to welcome them into the brotherhood. As soon as formal recruitment concluded, our chapter immediately began preparations for spring recruitment to build and grow our fraternity. After careful consideration from years past, Alpha Chi has focused firmly on our academics since January. I am proud to say we have improved our past semester GPA from a 2.67 to 3.55. This large success comes from the hard work and dedication of Vice President Michael Blanchard '18 and Scholarship Chairman Benjamin Murphy '19, who have created a GPA improvement program. This program's main goal is to improve accountability in attending class while simultaneously improving GPA by creating mandatory study hours for those under the desired GPA of Alpha Chi's standards. We have met such standards of success and will continue to do so in the years to come. As it stands, our philanthropy is still operating to the highest capacity allowed in regard to CDC guidelines. We are working together to implement an alternative to our annual Haunted Trail in case the university does not allow this event. With this being said, Alpha Chi is still planning accordingly for our largest and most notable philanthropy event, not just for charity, but for the community that has grown to love the Haunted Trail so much. I am beyond proud of the direction that the Alpha Chi Chapter is heading in.
