As a thief entered the home through an un- locked door, authorities said, the parrot issued a friendly "hello," which didn't alert the homeowner or deter the man from taking a credit card from a wallet. A neigh- bor photographed the suspect leav- ing the scene and security cameras later caught a 33-year-old man us- ing the stolen card at a store, said police, who arrested him. You'd think during a time of quarantine that more subscribers would be inclined to watch new shows on premium services, so it's pos- sible this new version was just too different from the original "Penny Dreadful." I often found the supernatural elements to be an uneasy fit with the social- realism crime stories. I would have liked to see this get another shot as well, but it's also possible that economic factors during the pandemic played a part in this.
