JULY 2010 – It's A Good Life Senior C enior Center Cinemaer Cinema "Tooth Fairy" "Tooth Fairy" In July, the Senior Center Cinema will pre- miere the recent hit movie, “Tooth Fairy.” This is a great movie to bring your grandchildren and/or great grandchildren along with you to see at the Neal Senior Center (100 TR Harris Drive, Shelby, NC 28150). “Tooth Fairy” stars Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson, Ashley Judd, Stephen Merchant and Julie Andrews and centers around the character Derek Thompson (Dwayne Johnson). Derek a hard charging minor league hockey player is nicknamed ‘The Tooth Fairy, because of his habit of separating opposing players from their bicuspids. When Derek discourages a youngster’s hopes, he’s sentenced to one week’s hard labor as a real tooth fairy, complete with the requisite tutu, wings and magic wand. At first, Derek “can’t handle the tooth” – bumbling and stumbling as he tries to furtively wing his way through strangers’ homes… doing what tooth fairies do. But as Derek slowly adapts to his new position, he begins to rediscover his own forgotten dreams. The movie will begin at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 9, 2010. Since the Senior Center is no longer serving lunch on Fridays, free tickets are no longer available from the dining room for the movie. Instead, the Senior Center will offer other ways to win a free ticket to the movie. For the “Tooth Fairy” if you come in your pajamas and slippers you can see the show for free or see the movie for $1 in your regular attire. Popcorn, candy and drinks will be available during the movie for purchase. That must be why the chorus is always bursting with joy and excitement. We appreciate the fundraiser, The July Jubilee, which you spear headed. We really appreciate your good cooking, but most of all; we appreciate the love and support you have for the Senior Center. You will also find informational and educational materials in the library on any aspect of senior life. There are magazines to read as well. If you’re looking for good travel opportunities, check out the “Elderhostel” magazine. Whether you enjoy read- ing fiction, non-fiction, who-dun-its or romances you’ll find something you like in the Neal Center Library located at 100 TR Harris Drive, Shelby, NC 28150. Books may be checked out for four weeks at a time, so you’ll have plenty of time even with the busiest of schedules to finish reading your selection(s). Feel free to stop by the Center and browse through racks. New books come in every week, so there’s always something new and different to check out.
