T he Cumberland County 911 Communications Center has achieved membership in an elite group of communication centers throughout the world by achieving accreditation in three protocol disciplines with the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED). e County's 911 Center achieved the "Triple ACE" distinction by earning its Police Accreditation earlier this month. e Center had already achieved an Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE) status for Medical and Fire Dispatch and is now the 19th Triple ACE and the 23rd Police ACE in the world. "is is absolutely great news," said Adam Johnson, the 911 Center Telecommunications Manager. "is is extremely rare and while it is always the goal to get to this point, it doesn't always come to fruition for many agencies. We are definitely proud of this." Accredited centers demonstrate a commitment to providing superior public care and use of resources to create the best possible outcomes in public emergencies. e accreditation process requires an agency to conduct an intensive self- assessment based on rigorous standards. COVID-19 Information & Resources Small Business Resiliency Grant Program Cumberland County Community Development has established a Small Business Resiliency grant program to assist qualified local businesses that suffered economic hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. e program is supported by Community Development Block Grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. e program will provide grants up to $10,000 and is targeting small for-profit businesses with 10 or fewer full-time equivalent employees. e goal is to help businesses retain employees and maintain economic stability during the crisis. To apply, businesses must operate within the Cumberland County geographic service area, which includes the unincorporated areas of the county, as well as the towns of Eastover, Falcon, Godwin, Hope Mills, Linden, Spring Lake, Stedman and Wade.
