PAGE 2 A s the president and owner of Porter's Fine Dry Cleaning, the vision statement Mark Porter '78 abides by for his family-owned business is "to create a means by which people can look and feel their best." Porter's is the largest dry cleaner in Louisiana thanks in large part to Mark's mindset. Another place where Mark learned how to look and feel his best was the Eta Zeta Chapter of Sigma Nu. Mark will always be thankful for his Eta Zeta experience, which is why he donated to the chapter's Building Our Legacy capital campaign to build a new chapter house. "I think the chapter house is essential to have a gathering place for the men of Sigma Nu," Mark said. "ey need a place where they can drop in at any time of the day and share the brotherhood." Mark didn't join Eta Zeta until his sophomore year, but once he started hanging out with the Sigma Nus, he knew he wanted to be a part of the brotherhood. Being associated with brothers who also believed in the values of love, truth, and honor molded Mark into the man he is today. "My class was a group that was motivated to be successful young men, which encouraged me to succeed in my business," Mark said. "I have been and currently am a member of some of the most elite groups in the dry- cleaning industry, which has allowed me to remain on the leading edge of our industry." Aer Mark graduated from Louisiana Tech, he sold chemicals for three years before returning to Porter's, which his father founded when Mark was 8 years old. Working closely with his father, wife, and daughter to build a strong family and successful business is Mark's greatest joy. Eta Zeta will also always feel like family to Mark. e relationships he developed with Eta Zetas and Sigma Nus nationwide have made him a better person, and he wants that same opportunity for future generations of brothers. With a gi to Eta Zeta, you can join Mark in helping the men of Sigma Nu look and feel their best in our new chapter house. "We need to pay it forward for our great experience that each one of us had while we were active in the fraternity." You can connect with Mark at markp@porters-cleaners.com. Keeping Eta Zeta So Fresh and So Clean Mark Porter '78 Shares Why He Contributed to the Building Our Legacy Capital Campaign I think the chapter house is essential to have a gathering place for the men of Sigma Nu. They need a place where they can drop in at any time of the day and share the brotherhood." I t was almost 40 years ago that Stanley Dupuy '83 stepped foot in the Eta Zeta chapter house for the first time. While attending LA Tech orientation, he instantly noticed many of the men participating as OSLs (orientation student leaders) were Sigma Nus. "I was quite impressed. I knew I wanted to know more about this chapter and its exemplary leaders." During recruitment, Stanley had the opportunity to get to know the men one-on-one. Recognizing what they stood for, he realized they were head and shoulders above all the other fraternities he had visited. Stanley's entire outlook on life was influenced by the men he met at Eta Zeta. "My brothers and the chapter itself helped sustain me throughout my college years." Having a group of outstanding men he could lean on helped mold him into the man he is today. "My college experience would not have been as successful without these men I call my brothers!" With the family business already established by his grandfather, Stanley knew exactly where to plant his feet aer collegeā€”J. E. Dupuy Flooring and Acoustical Inc., which touts 70 years in business this June. Stanley is grateful for the relationships he formed through Eta Zeta, which have enhanced his business in a big way. As president of J. E. Dupuy Flooring and Acoustical, Stanley has built upon the subfloor established by his grandfather and father by doubling their workforce and adding another store, with the main store in Monroe, Louisiana, and the second in Ruston. When Stanley is not driving back and forth between the two stores, estimating jobs, managing employees, making sales, bringing in more business, and serving his community and church, he makes time to give back to Eta Zeta. "I want the Eta Zeta house put back in place to continue our legacy. Sigma Nu gave me so much, and I want to honor all the men like me that needed that a place to belong in college." Stanley is giving back to the Building Our Legacy campaign so the next generation of members can have the same experience that he and his son, Daniel Dupuy '10, enjoyed. e old house is gone now, but Stanley fondly remembers it as their home and the place he and his brothers did everything together. Stanley is challenging his brothers to step up and join him in building a home that will give a foundation and direction for life to future brothers.
