It gave us leadership, friendship, and a network of alumni contacts. Our membership made us leading men on campus— True Gentlemen. That's how I'll remember our brotherhood, but how will our brotherhood remember us? Though we each made an impression as undergraduates, it's our work as alumni that will create a legacy. We recently held a health awareness seminar for men in Greek life and on campus. Two great speakers talked about ways we can be better gentlemen in our everyday lives. One of our alumni, Wayne McIntyre '64, provided one of the speakers, Jenny Howe, who talked to us about the science behind anxious responses and how one can learn to retrain the brain to tolerate what we feel is impossible. Since we had great success in recruitment last semester, we continued to the spring and recruited 16 new members. Our newly renovated house helped draw the attention of the new members. While we are happy with our recruitment, we are also happy with our philanthropic achievements, where we raised around $20,000. We plan to beat that number next semester by holding even more events on campus and in the community. At a 2.96 cumulative GPA, we placed above the all-fraternity and all-men's averages. Every brother strives to better their grades, and we are implementing programs to enhance our focus on academics. As a chapter, we are very excited for the future and longevity of our fraternity. When we implement the values we have as ΣAEs and the work we do philanthropically, we will have everything necessary to grow as true gentlemen.
