EPSILON OMICRON NEWS

E
psilon Omicron Chapter made several
positive changes in our recruitment
process for the 2019-20 academic year. Minor
incentives were put in place to encourage active
members to participate in recruitment week
and aid our recruitment team. Additionally, we
created an advertising piece aimed at potential
new members who attend Oklahoma State's
Greek Discovery Day, which showcases
our Chapter's strengths, including academic
and campus involvement, philanthropic
contributions, a strong central brotherhood, and
our national awards.
Our recruitment team decided to restructure
requirements for potential new members.
This includes a higher minimum GPA and a
formalized criterion for their interest in our
brotherhood. "Part of our mission to raise
retention involves goal–setting, which focuses
on three major categories: campus involvement,
organizational involvement, and academic
success," New Member Educator Andrew
Tran '17 said. In the fall, we recruited 43
potential new members and retained 70%
after initiation. Our goal for 2020 is to a
75% retention rate with our more selective
recruitment process.
Shout out to Recruitment Coordinator
Benjamin Smith '19 and his team for
smoothly implementing our new recruitment
process. Another positive impact from the
fall came during Halloween when we hosted
a haunted house. Through this event we
raised $7,000 to support Payne County Youth
Services. Thank you to all of our brothers who
made this possible.
With our in-person spring semester being cut
short due to COVID-19, we all face many
challenges. At times like these I am grateful to
be part of the Alpha Tau Omega brotherhood.
Through the support of all brothers, active and
alumni, we will come out of the other side of
this stronger than ever.
