Brothers, We Need Your help Additional Alumni Contributions Necessary to Close Campaign I n an effort that started over four years ago, The Castle Reno- vation: Engineering the Future of Sigma Phi Delta project is quickly becoming a reality. We have over $857,000 pledged with $411,636 collected to date. The new floor plans are nearly complete, including changes necessary to meet current building codes. Now, final layout of mechanical and kitchen equipment is all that needs to be completed to start the contractor bidding process. That said, we are still on track to break ground this summer. As I reflect on all the work put in by so many people and look ahead to what's needed to make this project a success, my thoughts turn to all of those who have not pledged or contributed. Several years ago, when the idea of this project was hatched around a fire pit, everyone in attendance recognized the need for a major chapter house renova- tion. As we looked toward each other for affirmation, a single thought crept into my head––If not us, who? Who else besides us could get the ball rolling to make a difference for Delta Chapter and our future brothers? Who else besides us could provide leadership, both in planning/execution and financial contri- butions? Who else besides us could ensure the house is well equipped to build upon our brotherhood for the next 50 years? Brothers Don Nelson '82, Steve Denny '72, and Jeff Schneider '78 have been instrumental in financial planning and goal setting for this project. The latest pro formas they have built and fine-tuned show that we have a gap of around $150,000 to make this project a reality without creating cash flow issues for our house corporation. So, I ask, have you contributed to this project? If not, why not? If you aren't able to make a financial contribution at this time, can you make a pledge that's payable in a year or two? Can you help in other ways, such as reaching out to brothers from your era who have not contributed or may not be fully up to speed on this project? Every contribution in time, money, and leadership is critical as we near the starting line of the largest project our chapter has ever contemplated. If not us, who?
