GAMMA PHI BETA 3 Gamma Phi Reaches New Heights Exceeding in Academics, Leadership and Service S igma Chapter has had nothing short of a successful academic, philanthropic, and just plain fun year here in Lawrence, Kansas. With celebra ng the success of the past execu ve council and the turnover to the completely new execu ve council, we have had fun learning the ropes of what it takes to lead over 200 women. This past summer, our chapter facility underwent a gorgeous remodel of our first floor, gi ing us a new chapter room, hardwood floors, and an update to the laundry room and carpe ng. Most importantly, we have grown closer as members and celebrate every milestone of life as sisters. Notably, our chapter achieved the highest semester GPA in Sigma history, with a 3.47. We celebrated with our scholarship dinner at the end of February, organized by our scholarship chairwoman, Kaitlin Hawkins '18. "We strive to constantly improve our chapter GPA by encouraging be er study habits, rewards for good grades, and acknowledgment of academic success," Kaitlin said. To fundraise for Girls on the Run, we hosted our annual Grilled Cheese with G Phi B's event in the fall. Sigma has also partnered with a local elementary school to provide volunteers for various ac vi es as they need. Our execu ve council a ended Gamma Phi Beta's Real Leadership Conference in February and are preparing to send several members to Conven on this summer in Palm Springs, California. The reach of Sigma Chapter is wide, helping to support our community, the KU campus, and our members themselves. Each day I am humbled by the strong, unbelievably intelligent, and impressive women that I get to call my sisters. Sigma is truly special, and I am proud to be a part of such an incredible sorority.
