The Fire Dept was represented by Chief Kevin Hess who also spoke of his love for his work and how much he loved teaching new recruits. He is hoping there will be another class this fall. Police chief Ponce could not attend but sent word that they were very busy but thanked everyone for their support an offi cer from DPS also came and was introduced to everyone. He is new to this area and wants to be part of the community and was warmly welcomed by everyone Mayor Norm Simpson read the Proclamation for those who didn't get it last year. Anita Carlson from Operation Hero Comfort also talked about the troop packages we send out every two weeks and what goes into them. She talked about how much these boxes mean to those who get them and how important the support is to them Thanks to the Town Parks Dept we now have the six bases poured and ready for the cement block work With all that has happened with this nasty virus we will not be able to have any work sessions soon but will be planning fundraisers and work sessions when it is safe Thank you also to everyone who came out to honor our heroes. They deserve to be thanked for their service WACOG (Western Arizona Council of Governments) in partnership with Senior Nutrition Programs through Yuma, La Paz, and Mohave Counties, provides nutritious meals for older adults age 60 and over who are not able to prepare their own meals due to physical and/or medical impediments. Senior Nutrition Programs provide congregate meals and also serve communities as social centers with bingo, wellness programs, and creative arts activities. The Home Delivered Meal program for homebound older adults (also known as Meals on Wheels) is offered through our Provider Network in La Paz, Mohave and Yuma Counties. Staff and volunteers prepare, pack- age, and deliver nutritious meals. This program is not just about nutrition. It's also an opportunity for social interaction, friendship, and a wellness check. In the most rural areas where our traditional providers do not have the capacity to deliver meals, we partner with Mom's Meals, which ships meals directly to clients' homes. In La Paz County, the Parker Community Senior Center is the Meals on Wheels provider for all of La Paz County. Their phone number is 928-669-9514. Or Call 1-800-782-1886 for more information about Home Delivered Meals.Senior Nutrition Sites. Also in the US, there is no evidence to suggest that any animals, including pets, live- stock, or wildlife, might be a source of COVID-19 infection at this time. However, because all animals can carry germs that can make people sick, it's always a good idea to prac- tice healthy habits around pets and other animals. • Wash your hands after handling an- imals, their food, waste, or supplies. • Practice good pet hygiene and clean up after pets properly. • Take pets to the veterinarian regularly and talk to your veterinarian if you have questions about your pet's health. https://coronavirus.gov/
