All gifts are tax deductible! Deepest thanks to the following brothers for giving in 2019: D id you see the recent Colgate Magazine article about Mu brother Oswald Avery 1900? He discovered the genetic properties of DNA. His DKE pin sits next to his Copley medal in the archives at Rockefeller University. Oswald and Professor Blackmore were in the same class of Mu. Imagine the conversations in the LPM! Help us keep the flame alive. Send us your memorabilia. Deed the Mu of DKE Foundation your pin. Help Us Fill the Archives "Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire." —GUSTAV MAHLER A round 75 brothers and their guests gathered for three hours of cocktails and conversation on the rooftop of the Yale Club in New York City on Saturday, February 1. The mood was light and energetic. Brothers young and old mixed and mingled and were not shocked to discover that when it comes to the character of Mu men, not much has changed. Shared experiences and values transcended the generations of brothers present from the '50s, '70s, '90s, '00s, and our newest brothers from the class of 2019. Alumni leaders including Phil Wolfenden '74, Rich Sotell '75, Dave Bergerson '93, Mark Peck '91, Colm O'Mara '94, and Zach Grobengieser '07 were present and attended the Mu of DKE Foundation Board meeting in the Clarence Day Room prior to the gathering. There was a slideshow of pictures curated from our newly digitized archives, which can be found on our website, www. mudke.org. Chairman Sean Devlin '05 gave an uninspiring speech, but rowdy brothers supported and egged him on with clicks nonetheless. Sean announced the undergraduate scholarship winners to much applause (see winners on page 3). Sean also auctioned off a container of DKE Temple Honey harvested from a giant and rare northern honey bee hive found in the eaves of the Temple during construction. The brotherhood is strong and doing well. We continue to attract young alumni who want to connect in meaningful ways through shared values.
