Census 2020 Campaign Kicks Off Why is the Census important to Fayetteville and Cumberland County? Political Representation N.C. is poised to gain a seat in Congress. 2020 Census data will be used for redistricting. Funding Census data is used to allocate $675 billion a year. N.C. receives about $16 billion annually. Cumberland County could lose at least $240 million over the next 10 years as a result of projected under counting. Community Impact Census data will be used to plan for highways, school lunch funding, emergency response, families in need and more. Our goal is to have everyone who lives in the City of Fayetteville and Cumberland County counted in 2020.
