The State of the Chapter
A Bright Future for Epsilon Mu
W
e've received many inquiries about the state of the chapter
regarding an incident that occurred at the Shelter this past fall.
After a lengthy investigation and suspension of fraternal activities, Ball
State University found that the chapter was not responsible for injury
to an unwelcome and inebriated trespasser. The university, however,
was concerned that the chapter had not taken the steps to mitigate the
situation and provide adequate security to the Shelter.
IMPROVEMENTS AT EPSILON MU
To that end, the chapter is taking measures to focus on structural
amenities and membership education related to those accreditation goals
defined by the university and consistent with our National Awards and
Accreditation Report (FAAR).
SHELTER SECURITY UPDATES
Regarding the physical structure, we're reviewing our portal security
systems and beefing up our surveillance system. Additional lighting
is being added to the exterior of the building. Furthermore, we are
arranging educational programming regarding topics relevant to
contemporary collegians. We'll be reviewing university risk management
policies with membership and pursuing Delt National member education
programs. We've already redefined our accreditation goals and have
taken steps to fulfill them.
WILL YOU STEP UP?
We have a recharged and motivated leadership team elected and
installed. In recent weeks, they've attended leadership conferences
and Northern Division. They're eager to fulfill the promise of their
governance and the members of the alumni team are committed to
matching alumni to various officers. If you are interested in assisting,
we're sure the undergraduate members will benefit from your experience.
Send an email to jrknox@bsu.edu and let us know of your interest. We
look forward to a great 2020 for Epsilon Mu.
Fraternally,
