E. Miller Recreation Center, 1347 Rim Rd., Fayetteville. Anyone interested in the plan or would like to share ideas for helping our community become more resilient to future natural disasters is encouraged to attend the meeting. Cumberland and Hoke counties are in the process of updating the existing plan. Hazard mitigation plans are used to understand risks from natural hazards such as severe weather and develop long-term strategies that will reduce the impacts of future events on people, property, and the environment. e counties are working in collaboration with AECOM, a planning and consulting company to update the plan, utilizing funds appropriated by the North Carolina Division of Emergency Management. County Names Deputy Manager C umberland County Manager Amy Cannon appointed Duane Holder as the Deputy County Manager Feb. 3. Holder has been the Assistant County Manager for Community Support Services since September 2017. "To advance the depth of leadership in the future, I am pleased to announce that I am reclassifying Duane Holder's Assistant County Manager position to Deputy County Manager. e other management team members are fully supportive of this move. Duane has earned the respect and confidence of the department heads he leads and will be a greater asset to the county in this expanded role," Cannon said. Holder, who served as interim Health Director for 18 months, will maintain responsibility over the Community Support Services portfolio, which includes Social Services, Public Health, Child Support, Community Development, Library, Pretrial Services, Veterans Services and Senior Community Service Employment. In addition, he will also lead the County's budget division and serve on the board of Alliance Health. Prior to joining Cumberland County government, Holder was the Deputy County Manager and Chief Financial Officer for Pitt County from 2012 to September 2017. Holder is also an Air Force veteran and has more than 20 years of experience in finance and county government.
