91 % of Dyson College of Arts and Sciences graduates from the class of 2018 are employed, continuing their education, or are doing volunteer or military service. Curriculum Outline Students who have completed the requirements of Pace University's MS in Mental Health Counseling program and meet all admission requirements may apply for admission to the doctoral program. An additional 48 credits of coursework and a doctoral dissertation are required for the degree, as described below. Students must also pass a written qualifying examination at the conclusion of the first year to advance to the second year of the PhD degree. Year 1 Summer (0 credits) MHC 700 Foundational Concepts of Research Design and Statistics (Students that have not taken a graduate-level statistics course within 3 years must take this class as a pre-requisite to enter the program.) Year 1 Fall (12 credits) MHC 705 Statistics and Research Design I 4 MHC 731 Theories and Methods of Counselor Education 4 MHC Elective Course 4 Year 1 Spring (12 credits) MHC 706 Statistics and Research Design II 4 MHC 830 Research Design: Special Topics Seminar 4 MHC 732 Theories and Methods of Counselor Supervision 4 Doctoral Comprehensive Exam At the end of this semester all students will be required to pass a comprehensive written examination in order to enter into the second year of the program. Year 2 Summer (0 credits) MHC 710 Doctoral Practicum in MHC Year 2 Fall (12 credits) MHC 733 Leadership and Advocacy in the Counseling Profession 4 MHC 831 Doctoral Dissertation Seminar I 4 MHC 725 Doctoral Internship 4 Year 2 Spring (12 credits) MHC 742 Advanced Theory and Practice of Counseling 4 MHC 832 Doctoral Dissertation Seminar II 4 MHC 707 Qualitative Methods in Counseling Research 4 MHC 726 Doctoral Seminar II 0 Year 3 (Dissertation Phase) Upon completion of coursework, students will then be eligible to propose and pursue their dissertation projects.
