The ohio state university page 5 CHAPTER ETERNAL John Herrington '56 passed on to Chapter Eternal on January 14, 2018. He will be missed by his friends, family, and Beta Phi brothers. John C. Leifer '58 entered Chapter Eternal on May 11, 2019, at the age of 84. He met his wife, Pat, while attending The Ohio State University. John and Pat had a son, Tom, and daughter, Kelly Ann, and four granddaughters. The beginning of John's career featured stops at U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh, Pa.; Abbott Laboratories in Chicago, Ill.; and Samsonite in Boulder, Colo. John decided to go back to college and get his master's in geology in his late 40s. His final job was with Rocky Flats. John designed and partially built his home in Nederland, Colo. His hobbies included skiing, golf, sailing, and horseback riding. ALUMNI NEWS D. Stuart Wilson '49 retired to Virginia Beach to be with his children and grandchildren. He was a lawyer after serving with the Air Force in the Korean War. George Carlisle '55 enjoys traveling and retirement. His home base in Harleysville, Pa. Email: gacthree@verizon.net James F. Oshust '58 was discharged from the Army after a two and a half-year stint, having been federalized in September 1951 as part of the ONG 37th Div. Jim was fortunate to rent a room in a house where several Beta Phi members lived, and they introduced him to the fraternity. "The next four years were the most enjoyable due to the friendships and support I received, as I had to work 38 hours a week to maintain my tuition and living costs," he shared. "I will never regret joining." E-mail: banjf1@aol.com James Johnson '59 made a visit to ΔΤΔ when two of his best friends joined. "I was sold!" he shared. The next eight years (1951-1960) he spent most of his school time in the Shelter. Jim worked in the kitchen and dining room. "Wonderful brothers! I still have friends from ΔΤΔ that I keep in touch with." Robert Watson '60 turned 81 on November 11, 2019, and lives in a great facility in Fort Worth, Texas. "Love my Delts and love my Ohio State!" Email: rcwatson28@msn.com Mark Phillips '66 retired on December 1, 2017. He still lives on Crooked Lake in Angola, Ind. His wife, Nancy, passed away in November 21, 2018. Abrams '69 has 15 children, seven of whom have graduated college and four of whom are in college. He is considering a partial retirement in the next couple of years. Jerry doesn't hear from brothers often since he is on the west coast, living in Kennewick, Wash. Email: jerryabrams@charter.net Thomas Morrison '70 does a lot of fishing in Florida and Cape Cod, in addition to hunting and shooting. He lives in Marco Island, Fla. Email: ibtm@aol.com Mark E. Russell '71 played on the freshman basketball team, and three members of the varsity were Delts, "John Halley '69, Dennis Meadors '69, and Steve Howell '69. They took me to the Shelter and I joined that night in spring '68." They remain in touch and have Christmas dinner every year. Steve is Mark's Beta Phi big brother. He has been married for over 46 years and has a daughter, Nicholle, who lives in Manhattan selling media and producing comedy shows. George lives in Upper Arlington, Ohio.
