Beta Phi Crier beta phi Chapter of Delta Tau Delta the ohio state university n fall 2019 T here's the family you're born into and the family you choose. Each of us chose to join a brotherhood that is more than Greek letters; we chose to join a family. Our Beta Phi brothers are just that, brothers. They are the men who build us up, push us forward, and remind us we are all capable of great things. As the holidays approach, we're reminded to live thankfully. Each of us should be thankful for the brotherhood we found in Delta Tau Delta. I could not be more thankful that I found my way to Delt, and I'm sure you and nearly every other Beta Phi Chapter alumnus feels the same way. The fraternity has likely meant different things to each of us, but we can all be thankful that we have this common bond between us. We can look forward to future young men having the same meaningful experiences. You may notice in this issue of the Beta Phi Crier we have not included information on our capital campaign. The House Corporation and undergraduate chapter are focused on brotherhood and the spirit of season. Please stay tuned for more information on what you can do to support Beta Phi in future issues of the newsletter. As you sit around the table this holiday season recounting your blessings, don't forget all that Delt has given you. Each of us were drawn to this fraternity—to its members, the Shelter, and all it embodies. Let's choose Delta Tau Delta again this season and say thank you to the hundreds of alumni who made it what it is today. Reach out to a brother this holiday season and reconnect—you won't regret it. I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season. Fraternally, Millard B. "Buck" Byrne '66 (614) 562-7355 buck@buckbyrne.com Our Delta Tau Delta Family Happy Holidays from Beta Phi P aul Falkenbach '80 admits that he wasn't really interested in joining a fraternity. However, that all changed after attending a Beta Phi summer event hosted by John Galbreath, Ohio University '20 at Darby Dan Farm. Paul was so impressed by the active members and the potential of bonding with them that he changed his tune on Greek life and joined Delta Tau Delta. "Delt helped make my experience in college much tighter than being just a small fish in a big sea at the largest university in the country [at the time]," Paul said. "I lived in the Shelter for three full years and had a wonderful and enriched experience with all my brothers." During his time as an active member, Paul served as social chairman, chief justice of the Interfraternity Judicial Council, and chapter president. Enjoying each day spent with his brothers so much, he decided to continue serving Beta Phi after graduation. Paul has since served as chapter advisor, ASC chairman, president of the Beta Phi Alumni Association, and is the current president of the House Corporation. "Serving as president, I have witnessed a wonderful transformation over time," Paul said. "Many of the traditions are different, but the constant has always been that we continue to attract amazing talent to fill the chapter." Outside of his support for Beta Phi, Paul is the vice president of sales for National Sign Systems/Cityscapes in central Ohio. He and his wife, Melissa, have two daughters. Erin is a fellow Buckeye, and Sarah Grace is a high school sophomore. Between the updated Shelter and visiting his daughter, Paul has much to be proud of at The Ohio State University. You can reach Paul at pfalkenbach@natsignsys.com.
