She is more than an imi- tator; she adopts the mannerisms, the persona, the voice and the looks of the singers she impersonates. While it's the singers we're looking forward to, she does other females as well. How about Dr. Ruth, Sarah Palin, Marth Stewart and her very fi rst impersonation Edith Bunker? Bethany says she listens to al- bums and watches movies to fi nd "the mountains and valleys" in each voice. She then records her interpre- tations over and over until she gets it right. She carries costumes and wigs with her. For country women she says, "I need a lot of hair. Big Hair." Her SUV is crammed with "stuff" including "lots of hair." She doesn't go off stage or behind a curtain to do her changes. She will change costumes and charac- ters right in front of us, sometimes within 10 seconds. She turns her back and when she turns around she's a new person. She says it takes a lot of practice and let's add a lot of talent. One Voice" Starring Bethany Owen is an intimate tribute show experience in which one extremely talented performer stunningly em- bodies some of the greatest female stars from the world of music, fi lm, television, and comedy. Owen's im- pressions are so vivid and true to their sources that you'll swear you're witnessing all of the real icons on stage in a loving yet hilarious hom- age to some of the most famous la- dies of all time. Bethany was born in Kansas. She says, "I think God intended that I be born smack in the middle of the USA so I could learn all the accents." Along the way she has lived in Seat- tle, Atlanta, Chicago, Texas and now in California. She has toured all over the US and the world, including In- dia. (I wonder what they thought of Marilyn Monroe and Cher?) While a teenager Bethany began as a classical ballet dancer, then a band singer and choreographer. Her very fi rst impression, Edith Bunker, sealed her fate as an impressionist. And she's won Best Female Impres- sionist in a fi eld usually dominated by men. Her husband, Jim Whir- low, director and producer of her show, has won numerous awards and accolades in his profession. Welcome them to Quartzsite; this is a show featuring many of our fa- vorite performers all rolled up into one exciting performance.
