P A G E 3 | N O T E S O F T H E L Y R E A fter a successful spring semester, Phi Chapter is excited to see what fall 2019 has in store. Sisters remain committed to Alpha Chi Omega's values of leadership, service, and academic excellence. We are excited to get to know our newest member class and are confident they will bring wonderful ideas and integrity to our beloved chapter. Fall semester at KU always means fun sisterhood events, tailgating for football games, Big/ Little reveal, and a semi-formal. Those are just a few of the activities we look forward to, but we are excited to spend time with our sisters as we work together to better the chapter, ourselves, and our community. EXCITED FOR NEW MEMBERS We had a successful recruitment week and welcomed 81 new members into Phi Chapter. We are excited to show them what being an Alpha Chi is all about and enhance their college experience. While most of our new member class hails from Kansas, we have several women joining us from Nebraska, Missouri, Arkansas, and even sisters from as far away as California. We're eager to see how they like Lawrence and we're happy to help them transition to the life of a college student and an Alpha Chi Omega. RAISING AWARENESS AND FUNDS FOR SURVIVERS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Phi Chapter has been enriching the lives of our sisters and members in our community, especially women, through our philanthropic endeavors. Over the last year, members have remained dedicated to service, spending more than 4,700 hours volunteering—an average of about 10 hours of service per member. In the spring, we hosted Burgers and Fries with Alpha Chi, where around 500 students and community members joined us for dinner and raised more than $8,000 for the Willow Domestic Violence Center. We stay true to ΑΧΩ's mission of raising awareness and preventing domestic violence through a successful Healthy Relationships Week. During the week, we had a table on campus, a service event to make tie-blankets for Willow, and a self-defense class in place of our regular chapter. CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Sisters of Phi Chapter are involved in the following campus activities, to name a few: • Natural Ties, which fosters friendships and inclusion between individuals with and without disabilities "one tie at a time." • Boss Girls KU, which empowers women to be "boss" at whatever they are passionate about. • Aerial Arts Club • Business fraternities • Pre-med fraternities Additionally, Ally Kmiecik '16 is the University of Kansas Panhellenic Association president, and Lexei Mann '16 is a member of the Panhellenic internal recruitment team. Our sisterhood is incredibly proud to see these women hold leadership positions outside of the chapter as exemplary Alpha Chis. ALUMNAE KEY TO CHAPTER'S SUCCESS As always, we are grateful for alumnae support—it truly helps Phi Chapter undergraduate members thrive and be the best versions of ourselves. We encourage alumnae to visit the chapter house whenever you are in Lawrence. We would be thrilled to welcome you home and introduce you to the women following in your footsteps. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
