THREADS of SIGMA PSI KAPPA DELTA | NORTH DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITY | FALL 2019 SECURING SIGMA PSI'S LEGACY F or almost 100 years, Kappa Delta has been an important part of the North Dakota State University community. As Sigma Psi alumnae, we owe a debt of gratitude to the role the 1924 charter members played in the establishment of our chapter. Because of these early visionaries and ambitious leaders, our sorority has positively shaped our lives and the lives of thousands of other women. Sigma Psi defined our college experience and influenced our success at NDSU and after graduation. Most importantly, it offered a support system of loyal sisters who are still our friends today. Kappa Delta at North Dakota State is a special place to each of us. Now we have an opportunity to pay it forward. Join us as we build confidence and inspire action for Sigma Psi. The Securing Sigma Psi's Legacy capital campaign will further our history of excellence for the next generations of Kappa Deltas at North Dakota State. Our goal is to raise $1.3 million for a new facility to be constructed at 1210 13th Avenue North that is a modern, safe and a comfortable place to live that supports academic excellence, leadership development and sisterhood, while ensuring the chapter remains competitive with today's Greek life. With the support of our incredibly devoted alumnae, we are confident our new chapter house will serve as a beacon for other organizations on campus while continuing to draw the best members campus has to offer. It is with pride that we are able to tell you that early commitments to our campaign from dedicated alumnae total $599, 000. While we celebrate our early success, there is still work to be done. Sigma Psi Announces Campaign to Construct New Chapter House Initial Supporters Contribute Nearly $600,000 YOUR GIFT CAN MAKE TWICE THE IMPACT Sigma Psi has a unique opportunity that will only be available for a short time. Robert Challey, a NDSU Sigma Alpha Epsilon alumnus and son of Sigma Psi's first initiate, Myrtle Euren Challey '24, has issued a generous challenge to all Kappa Delta alumnae: every new gift or pledge over $5,000 will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to $200,000! Your $5,000 pledge would mean $10,000 for the campaign; your $10,000 would mean $20,000! The dollars you give today could have twice the impact on our campaign. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to not only commemorate those alumnae who have laid the foundation for us, just as Bob has for his mother, but also to pave the way for our future sisters. We encourage you to think back on your time with Kappa Delta and consider all that you gained from your own membership experience. We now seek additional significant support from our loyal sisters, such as you, to help reach our goal. (Continued on page 6)
