3 BETA THETA PI AT PURDUE UNIVERSITY T he fall semester is off to a strong start at Beta Mu. We had impres- sive potential new members, and over the two-week period we saw 39 new members inducted into the fall '19 class. Brother Jacob Hughes '21 is serving as our vice president of education for these new members and is doing an incredible job showing these men what it takes to be Men of Principle. On September 21, one of our most popular social events, Camp Beta, was held at Turkey Run State Park. Brothers canoed for three miles on Sugar Creek with a date; Beta Mu takes special pride in this event. For the second straight year, we are cohosting the eta Beta Grill-Off with Kappa Alpha eta. is event is a grill-off competition in which fraternities and sororities compete for the best dish. Brothers Leo Wroblewski '21 and Jake Irvin '20 have made great efforts to ensure this event is successful this fall. e money raised will go to local programs offered by CASA to support abused and neglected children in the court system, helping place them with foster families. is cause is something anyone can get behind, and we're happy to be a part of it again this year. New this year was a joint community service project with Phi Mu. We joined them to serve at the Lafayette Transitional Housing Center for a day devoted to community service on September 29. is opportunity couldn't be passed up, and we were thrilled to join the sisters of Phi Mu for this community event. To conclude, the brothers of Beta Mu are active on campus and looking for any opportunity to impact the local and Greek com- munities. While each semester brings new challenges, the brothers look forward to maintaining a top GPA on campus and building a strong and united brotherhood.
