Evening activities started with an alumni re- ception to celebrate and reminisce at the Has- selmann Alumni House and concluded with a Casino Night party at the new chapter house. I am proud to share that more than $45,000 in ad- Fall 2019 THE CROSSING A. I. SP The CROSSING A fter years of planning and hard work, the dream of a new chapter house is a reality. Standing tall at 206 East 12th Street, the new house was christened at the grand opening, August 2-3, by more than 200 alumni and spouses. Alumni attendees ranged from the 1950s to spring 2019 graduates. What an out- standing turnout! We had a wonderful gather- ing at Alex's Pizza Palace Friday night prior to the ribbon-cutting. Old bonds were reconnected while eagerly awaiting the surprise of seeing Alpha Iota Chapter's new home the following morning. The ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday morn- ing set the tone for the day. Alumni were photo- graphed by decade in front of the new chapter house. All the AIBA members and campaign committee members were officially recognized for their time and effort spent working toward this important goal. Once the ribbon was cut, the keys of the house were turned over to the under- graduate brothers, and a new era in Alpha Iota's history began. I personally want to thank everyone on the cam- paign committee for doing such a great job on this project. We were able to bring six decades of alumni together and get strong donor support from all eras of Alpha Iota. The alumni connec- tions are now stronger than ever, and we need to continue to build on the goodwill this project has created to permanently secure our legacy. When the doors to the new house were opened, undergraduate brothers and alumni alike were able to see their hard work come to fruition. It's safe to say that the new Alpha Iota chapter house does not disappoint and is a house that we can all be proud to call home. "It was important to us that the architectural de- sign be a modern design with impressive curb appeal and an intentional departure from the traditional Greek brick and white columns look. The open floor plan is intended to promote col- laborative study areas and brotherhood activi- ties, rather than having our brothers isolated in sleeping and study suites," Alpha Iota Building Association President Kurt Steinmann '97 said. We appreciate everyone's financial support and time donated to the Honoring Our Past, Secur- ing Our Future campaign. This campaign rep- resents a historic coming together of Alpha Iota alumni from all decades, and our new home is truly a reflection of brotherhood at its best. There is still time to be part of this legacy. Do- nors who contribute $500 or more will be fea- tured on a Finish Line plaque displayed in the new chapter house. We would be honored to add even more brothers to our grow- ing list of steadfast alumni who have invested in the future of Alpha Iota.
