Family & Human Services Alumni Profile ■ Chelsea Estep '12 Chelsea Estep, having earned her master's in social work, currently works as a licensed clinical social worker and school social worker in Nevada. "I would not be where I am today if not for my experience at JBU. The professors' passion for the helping profession inspired my own passion for the field. JBU also taught me to be a competent worker, both in the field and in the classroom. I would not change my experience at JBU for anything!" 4. Biology This major prepares students for a variety of different careers, as well as providing a solid foundation for graduate school in biology or professional school in health-related fields. Students are trained to work as biologists in laboratory or field settings. Programs of study can be customized to serve students' interests. Biology Alumni Profile ■ Adam Betz '10 Adam Betz graduated with a degree in Biology in 2010. He attended medical school at the University of Oklahoma, followed by a residency in anesthesiology and fellowship in critical care medicine at the University of Kentucky. He is now practicing as a cardiac intensivist, specializing in mechanical circulatory support with the Oklahoma Heart Institute in Tulsa, OK. "JBU was fantastic preparation for medical school and a career in medicine. I was taught to think critically and cultivate curiosity. Camaraderie with bright classmates and closeness with professors encouraged a level of thinking that has been an advantage throughout my career. I will always look back gratefully on my time at JBU as the most truly formative years of my education and training." 5. Design Alumni ■ Lindy Martin '16 Lindy Martin graduated in 2016 with a bachelors' in graphic design. She is currently the senior book cover designer at Faceout Studio, producing book covers and jackets for publishers and bestselling authors, the majority of which are in New York City. She has won two Silver Graphis awards — one for her cover of "Make Elephants Fly" and one for a poster she designed as a client gift. "JBU's Graphic Design program taught me the necessary technical skills required of a design professional, as well as a framework of creative problem-solving that allows me to be both innovative and adaptable in order to deliver the best possible solution to my clients," said Martin.
