The Bond of Beta Theta Pi
How Theta Delta Chapter
Shaped Matthew Padak '03
"T
heta Delta is an elevation," Matthew Padak '03 said, noting
he joined Beta Theta Pi to be a part of something bigger than
himself. While Matt recognizes Beta Theta Pi has merit, it
was his specific Chapter at The Ohio State University that he owes
his true lessons to. As an undergraduate, Matt's time in Theta Delta
gave him a foundation to become the man he is today. "Theta Delta
taught me to endure, it taught me discipline, and it taught me what true
brotherhood really is," Matt said.
Beyond the memories he gained through his experience, the most
important takeaway he received is the lifelong brotherly bond. For
Matt, this bond is different from any other friendship; it is much
stronger because of the opportunity to properly get to know his
brothers. "Everyone has a common bond, and everyone has many
more lifelong friendships than they would otherwise," Matt said.
Matt stays in touch with a multitude of his Theta Delta brothers. It was even a Beta brother that
led Matt into his current career field by setting him up for an interview for a part-time position
at Abercrombie & Fitch. However, after an unexpected Wunderlic test, which assesses the
aptitude of prospective employees, Matt accepted a higher position of assistant merchant. Since
then, he has had a successful career in the marketing and manufacturing industry.
Matt lives in Southern California with his wife and children and is the co-founder of Kaizen, a
strategic planning company. You can reach out to Matt at padak@kaizen.industries.
