PAGE 3 The DelTa Chi eDuCaTional FounDaTion DELTA CHI EDUCATIONAL FUND Flat Hat Society donor Chip Merlin, Florida '80 (top left), owner of Merlin Yacht Racing, celebrates with his crew at the end of the 50th Transpac Yacht Race in Hawaii! www.MerlinYachtRacing.com T his summer, we launched our first $1 million campaign, designed to document 100 donors by the end of 2020 who are willing to set aside $10,000 or more in their last will and testament, insurance policy, or trust, etc. to benefit the Delta Chi Educational Foundation's Endowment Fund. "Making a gift worth 25 times your annual gift will endow your annual amount in perpetuity, with an average of 4% annual investment income. For example, if you're giving $1,000 annually, a $25,000 planned gift to the Endowment will ensure your $1,000 annual gift continues to fund foundation operations," said Jason Butler, Central Missouri '99, DCEF Board of Directors. Planned giving means setting up a gift to benefit the DCEF after you've passed on to the higher court. It can make a major impact on our organization in perpetuity. Donors are recognized in the Heritage Society. "Delta Chi has a special place in my heart. As an undergrad, my affiliation fostered personal growth and many life-long friendships. As an alumnus, Delta Chi continues to have a pro- found positive impact in both my personal and professional life, having led me to a rewarding career at Edward Jones Investments through the guidance of a fraternity brother. As Alumni Board of Trustees (ABT) president I recognized the importance of a strong leadership presence at the Inter- national Headquarters level in helping to guide these young men and chapters towards self-sufficiency and sustainability. To ensure the perpetual care and maintenance of Delta Chi, I have listed the Delta Chi Educational Founda- tion as one of the beneficiaries to my personal estate. My small contribution will ensure I re- main bonded with Delta Chi for the remainder of my life and after I have been called to the 'higher court.'" said George Rambow, Indiana '97, former Indiana ABT president. The steps are easy, and the DCEF Development Department has worked hard to streamline the process digitally (mail is also acceptable): https://deltachi.org/dcef-planned-giving. • Have your attorney add the DCEF (language provided) into your legal paperwork. • Provide the DCEF with a copy of your declaration page and signature page for our records. • Complete a Gift Designation form with the help of the Director of Development for internal purposes. Special thanks to Jeff Schoenherr, Michigan '91, a member of DCEF's Professional Fundraising Committee, and a 20- year veteran of professional fundraising in higher education, who's donating his time and talent to help us retool our Planned Giving program. Contact Director of Development Peter Lane, Georgia Southern '07, at plane@dcef.com to plan your gift today. How Will You Leave Your Legacy?
