For the third year out of his three ye a rs at McD o n a l d Co u n ty H i g h School, football coach Kellen Hoover faces a somewhat rebuilding process. Going into the 2019 season, Hoover has no familiar faces in any skill posi- tions. In his first year at MCHS, Hoover and the Mustangs went 5-5 led by quarterback Peyton Barton, running backs Isrrael DeSantiago and Timber Teague and receivers Cole DelosSantos and Kennedy Hodson after McDonald County finished 0-10 the previous year. Last year with all those players lost to graduation, McDonald County went 3-7 behind the running backs Oakley Roessler and Joe Brown, quarterback Ben Mora and receivers Reece Cooper, Marshall Foreman and Boston Dowd. Gone for the 2019 season are all those, along with all the yards they gained and the touchdowns they scored. "We don't have anyone who gained one yard last year unless it was in a mop-up situation," Hoover said. "We are going to have to essentially replace every single position on offense except for a couple of linemen." The only two returning starters on offense are guard Kaidan Campbell and tackle Tryston Leach. "Kaidan is a true technician," Hoover said. "We look for him to take on more of a leadership role and to open up a lot of running lanes for our ground game. Tryston will be leaned on heav- ily to get our running game going early in the season. He has good feet for his size (6-6, 315) and continues to get better at his technique as well." Hoover said senior Jack Teague will get the majority of carries at tailback with relief help from Junior Teriek.
